Tommi’s Diner at Chilli Chilli Bang Bang

As part of the tastiest festival menu EVER, our very own Thomasina Miers is hosting a 2-day, pop-up, 3-courser down at this Friday and Saturday’s Chilli Chilli Bang Bang festival in Dalston Yard. And it’s sounding super tasty.

Tommi's Diner menu

The specially created festival menu of an aguachile, lamb barbacoa and chilli chocolates is inspired by recipes and chilli tips in Tommi’s new book all about cooking with our favourite fiery fruit, Chilli Notes. It’s speckled with a handful of different chilli varieties including habaneros, anchos, pasillas and jalapeños, but promises to warm the heart, not burn the tongue. The 3 courses will be cooled down with a Smoking Paloma mezcal cocktail served from the Wahaca tuk tuk bar.

If you haven’t got them already, tickets for Chilli Chilli Bang Bang are on sale HERE. Advanced tickets will get their first 2 drinks free, plus a Wahaca salsa and margarita back at our restaurants after the event. Bargain.

Tommi’s Diner shapes up for Chilli Chill Bang Bang

Yesterday we sent a troop of our top waiters, chefs and bartenders along to Dalston Yard, home of next weekend’s Chilli Chilli Bang Bang festival, to give the place a bit of a spruce up.

Tommi's Diner

Together with top graffiti instructors from Paintsmiths, our guys turned a fairly regular looking wall into a chilli inspired backdrop for Tommi’s Diner. The diner will be open for just 2 days and it’ll be home to our very own Tommi Miers as she cooks up a 3 course menu, for those who fancy some VIP treatment, street food style, using recipes inspired by her new book Chilli Notes.

If you fancy heading along to Chilli Chilli Bang Bang on Friday 9th or Saturday 10th May, tickets are on sale now and entry gets you, not just a whole load of great times, but a free margarita and a free bottle of corona on the night, plus we’re throwing in a free Wahaca sauce and a Margarita in one of our restaurants if one night of fun isn’t enough for you. Probably the best £15 you’ll ever spend!

As well as Tommi’s Diner, the event’s going to be featuring street food from Wahaca and a new experiment we’re trying out called DF Mexico, alongside some of our favourite vendors from the UK street food scene. Expect to see Pizza Pilgrims, Andina, Bar Shu, B.O.B.’s Lobster and many more chilli inspired stalls. Drinks are courtesy of the fresh shakers at Rotary Bar and there’s going to be our very own Wahaca Mezcaleria for anyone after something a little more smoky.  For a list of the incredible chefs that will be cooking on The Crate Stage, head here.

It’s gonna be one hell of a hot party, so get your tickets quick!

Chilli Chilli Bang Bang – This summer’s guaranteed heat wave

Over 9th and 10th May together with our pals at Tweat Up, we’re helping our very own Thomasina Miers take over Dalston Yard as she hosts Chilli Chilli Bang Bang, celebrating the mighty chilli pepper.  It’ll be a 2 day fiesta of the country’s top street food, chefs demo-ing their most incredible chilli dishes alongside freshly shaken drinks and amazing times.

Watch out for tacos and chilli quesadillas from Wahaca alongside some of our favourite punch-packing street food vendors. Tommi’s own Mexican diner will be cooking-up a sit-down 3-courser of chilli inspired dishes from her brand new book, Chilli Notes for those who like a meal to warm the heart without burning the tongue.

Tommi down at Dalston Yard

As well as eating, there’s going to be some amazing drinks on offer, with Wahaca’s Mezcaleria stocking some of our favourite agave spirits, thanks to the team at Amathus Drinks. There’s also set to a bang-banging cocktail Bar serving Jose Cuervo’s Tradicional Margaritas and Chilli-Backs.

If that wasn’t enough, Tommi’s lined up a list of her cheffy pals to demo some of their signature chilli dishes to the amassed crowds. Joining Tommi on the Crate Stage will be Giorgio Locatelli, Anna Hansen, Gizzi Erskine, Atul Kochhar, Stevie Parle, Jeremy Lee, Sam Clark, Tim Anderson, Tom Parker Bowles, Martin Morales, Allegra McEvedy, Andy Bates and Claire Ptak. Flying over especially for the festival is Roberto Solis owner of Nectar (and ex of Noma, Fat Duck and Per Se) and Mexico’s specialist in molecular gastronomy.  A line up that should give you a pretty good idea of what to do with your next bunch of serranos.

Happening over three sessions (Friday 5pm-midnight, Saturday noon-5pm and 6pm-midnight) at Street Feast’s summer home, Dalston Yard, (just opposite Dalston Junction station), tickets are on sale right now, here. Tickets include a free cocktail and a bottle of beer plus a Margarita back at one of our restaurants after the event. It’s a steal!

So if you fancy eating your way through dishes from the UK’s best street food stalls, marvelling at the spectacle of some super cool chefs, whilst sipping back on a margarita, then get ready for Chilli Chilli Bang Bang.
