Latin Grammy winner Carla Morrison makes a surprise London stop

A new generation of young independent Mexican talent is sweeping the world. Young talented ones who are not afraid of their musical roots, and don’t think twice about taking a full Mariachi band on stage at Mexico’s biggest rock festival Vive Latino. Promoting her second album “Dejenme llorar”, she paid London a visit and delighted a selected few at the Vortex Jazz club, Dalston, a perfect venue for the occasion, it had the feel of a little café in Coyoacan.

Carla Morrison
Carla, a smiley down to earth girl from Baja California can sing, she has a big voice that will warm your heart. She effortlessly plays guitar, and lets out raw lyrics full of emotion, of love and heartbreak.
The intimate sold out gig took us on a tour of Carlita’s musical career with favourites like “Compartir” “Hasta la piel” and “Pajarito de amor” while in between songs, she told tales of her early years working in a department store dreaming of playing music for a living. Indeed she is now doing just that, playing to thousands in Latin America and Spain. She is giving hope to Mexican emerging talents that it’s possible to make it without a record label if you have the attitude and the talent.
