Wahaca have scoured the country to find companies and farmers who care as much about animal welfare as we do.
We have recently had to change our meat suppliers due to our increasing demand, so we have scoured the country to try to find companies and farmers that we trust, who care as much about animal welfare as we do. Our pork is reared for 12 weeks outdoors and then inside in straw-lain sheds. Having watched Tracy Worcester’s acclaimed film on pig rearing, ‘Pig Business’, we have also ensured that our pigs are not routinely tail docked or fed any nasty hormones/antibiotics. We went to see them a few months ago and agreed that they looked very happy and well looked after. Our chicken continues to be free-range and our steak comes from well looked after, grass-fed British herds. This season, by popular demand, we have also changed our milk to organic, for a creamier, sweeter taste.
